Division One

O Jo’s 31 Team Waikiki 32

O JO’S stormed out the blocks at a fast and furious pace from the first whistle.

Goal-attack Mandy Grafton converted every chance she got before O Jo’s’ play slowed up slightly in the second quarter.

Waikiki came back at them and went in front as O Jo’s’ shooters made a few uncharacteristic misses, while Waikiki goal-attack Linda Rawcliffe wasn’t missing anything.

Returning to their starting line-up, O Jo’s put pressure on their opponents and soon closed the gap.

The atmosphere on court became tense as both teams looked for the win.

In the end, Waikiki just came out on top, but the scores were so tight that had the game continued it could have gone either way.

GW Electrical 35 Allways Removal 14

A QUICK start from Allways saw them score the first goal, but GW responded with accurate shooting from Denise Myers which helped them take an early lead.

GW centre Caroline Goode dominated the mid-court with precise interceptions, though the attack wasn’t taking full advantage of every opportunity that came their way.

Allways’ Emma Kellaway moved from centre to goal-attack and wasted no time finding the net in the second quarter.

GW were beginning to find their form with better movement around the court and they doubled their score to end the half 16-8 up.

The strong GW defensive pairing of Hannah Lee and Elaine Sanderson made life hard for the Allways attackers and Electrical showed their strength in attack with long, accurate passes into the shooters.

Although Allways worked hard throughout the match, it wasn’t enough to close the gap.
