FACES from Weymouth Wildcats’ title-winning season of 2008 are set to gather for a reunion in the seaside town tomorrow.

Riders, support staff and fans will meet up in The Swan in St Thomas Street (7.30pm), six years after the Wildcats were crowned Conference League champions.

Former team manager Jem Dicken and riders including Luke Priest, Kyle Newman, Brendan Johnson, James Cockle, Terry Day and Tim Webster are among those planning to attend the event.

“Luke Priest thought it would be a good idea to get the team that won the league in 2008 down to Wey-mouth,” said Dicken.

“Everyone loves Weymouth because you can have a laugh and meet up with people you haven’t seen for a while.

“We’ve got around 30 people coming from all over, including riders, mechanics and supporters.”

He added: “Everybody is living in hope that speedway will be reinstated in Weymouth but I can’t see it happening.

“If the football club were clever they would incorporate a track around the pitch at their new stadium to run speedway and stock car racing.”
