KARL Rawlins from Dorchester’s MMAX Academy gym started his amateur boxing career with two explosive knockout wins.

His debut fight was against a more experienced boxer from Gloucester who had four fights to his name, but Rawlins’ power and quick hands saw him make light work of his opponent.

Fighting in front of 1,600 fans at a show in Bournemouth, Rawlins earned the knockout in the middle of the first round.

The next fight for the Dorchester fighter took place in Poole.

This was a big step up in class for Rawlins as he took on a seasoned opponent who also had several fights under his belt.

Once again, Rawlins’ speed, movement and explosive hands resulted in another fast knockdown, which forced a standing eight count.

His opponent never really recovered and the fight was stopped in the first round as Rawlins piled on the pressure.

The Dorchester boxing club has been running for just over 18 months and Rawlins has only trained for the last 11.

Training sessions take place every Mon-day and Wednesday at MMAX Academy on Trinity Street, Dorchester above Ice- land.

The club is open to beginners for fitness or competition boxing.
