WEYMOUTH MISSION FITNESS BANDITS 75 EXETER UNIVERSITY II 40

WEYMOUTH Bandits maintained their 100 per cent home record after seeing off the students of Exeter.

The opening quarter saw the hosts come out the blocks at a rapid pace, big Vitoldas Balciunas and Craig Sorrell opening the scoring for the game.

The hosts played a fine controlling zone defence, which kept the visitors to a low-scoring quarter.

A flurry of points from Ian Manley and Andy Steel allowed Weymouth to end the quarter with a controlling 24-9 lead.

The second quarter saw more action than what had occurred in the first.

The Bandits maintained a high pressure defence, while executing a well-drilled offence.

This quarter saw seven different Weymouth players add points to the board showing the opposition that everyone in the side was willing to put in the work to secure the win.

The quarter ended with Weymouth holding a 28-point lead over their opposition.

The Bandits started the third quarter a little slower and the students stepped up their pursuit to get themselves back in the game, which saw an exchange of points from both sides.

The quarter saw Weymouth score their lowest amount of points in the game but they still scored more than their opponents.

After a quick team talk from acting coach Chris Canham, the Bandits came out after the break determined to bring the tempo and domination that they had in the first half.

This quarter saw the game’s leading scorer continue with his hot hand. Andy Steel at one point scored a fine fast break lay-up and followed this up on the next offence attack with a shot from beyond the three-point arc.

The Bandits managed to do enough to again beat their opposition and finish off the game with a win to maintain their current unbeaten run at home.
