JENNIE Hastie’s fledgling career in competitive kickboxing has really taken off after she sealed her first title in record-breaking fashion.

Hastie started training at Dorchester’s MMAX K1 Kickboxing Club for fitness and self-defence just over two-and-a-half years ago.

She very quickly found that she loved the optional contact sparring classes and began to prepare for life as a competition fighter.

Within six months Hastie was ready for her first full contact fight against a member of a tough Thai boxing gym that had produced world, British and English champions.

But this did not deter the Dorset ace and with her explosive K1 style she totally dominated her more experienced opponent, nearly getting a stoppage in the last seconds of the third round.

This performance led to a fight on the Muaythai World Series circuit, one which resulted in a devastating second round KO victory for Hastie.

That win guaranteed a televised contest, though her first opponent pulled out just two weeks before.

Instead, she was asked if she would accept a massive challenge and take on a professional Thai boxer from Cornwall who had fought the current S1 World Thai boxing champion twice.

The fight would be for the vacant Southern Area title and so Hastie duly accepted the challenge – and the clash lasted no time at all.

Hastie treated the television audience to the UK’s fastest knockout by a female kickboxer at her weight, timed at just 11 seconds.
