LAND Registry and Wyke A have had no new year hangovers and are still front-running in Division One of the Weymouth & District League.

Matches between the two are likely to decide who will be champions this season.

Land Registry have had comfortable wins against Pilgrims A and Wyke M and a hard-fought victory over YMCA kept themselves top of the league by eight points.

Wyke A also beat YMCA and then Red Triangle, followed by an absolute cracker against rivals Wyke M. They recorded a 21-19 win in a match that went to the deciding doubles.

Budmouth A continue to occupy third place after close away wins against Shipton Gorge A, YMCA and Pilgrims A.

Colliton X beat Pilgrims A before they and Shipton Gorge A recorded the first draw in Division One this season, finishing 19-19.

Pilgrims A are still looking for their first win of the season in the Division One, but will be hopeful of securing a Handicap Cup semi-final berth against Division Two outfit Springfield B.

Budmouth B are starting to pull away in Division Two and, having beaten closest rivals Budmouth C in both their matches this season, it looks like the battle for the runners-up position is where the action will be over the coming weeks.

As well as beating Budmouth C, they have also had very comfortable victories over Preston C and Colliton C with Ben Graham maintaining his 100 per cent individual winning record. Apart from losing to rivals, Budmouth C have had wins over both Preston A and B.

Shipton Gorge are sitting in third place, and so far in 2015 they have drawn against Preston A and enjoyed a narrow success over Springfield A.

Their match against Budmouth C this week could well be key in deciding the runners-up spot.

Springfield A have won one, drawn one, lost one since the new year with the draw coming against Springfield B. Steve Rook and Pete Anderson pulled around a 17-18 deficit to record a 3-2 win after coming from two sets to one down.

Division Three looks like a three-way fight for the title with Budmouth D putting in strong displays to top the division.

This included a win over second-placed All Saints which reversed the result from earlier in the season and dominant displays against Wyke C and STEPS.

All Saints put in a good performance against Budmouth E to make up for their defeat to Budmouth D to sit in second place.

Wyke D are the other team bidding for the Division Three title but have not played yet this year.
