STEVE Colwell thinks a win against Paulton Rovers would be massive for the Terras this afternoon (3pm) and would boost their confidence for a tough run-in.

The midfielder, who found the net with his second goal at the Bob Lucas Stadium when the sides last faced off, believes today’s clash at Paulton takes on an added edge after Rovers ended Weymouth’s unbeaten home record earlier this season and the Terras swooped for midfielder Dean Evans soon after.

Colwell told Echosport: “They are going to be up for it and they have proved they can beat us on our own patch.

“With us taking Dean Evans from them, it will spur them on a bit more so it will be a tough game.

“As long as we stay tight and stay in the game, I think we have the attributes to pinch all three points.”

Commenting on their 4-2 home defeat to Paulton back in January, he added: “The boys were gutted at the time. To see that home record go was a little bit disappointing.

“Ash Wells got sent off and we lost Yetts. We went 1-0 down within the first couple of minutes as well. It was just one of those nights that started a little bit of the rut that we were in.

“Lately we have shown glimpses of getting back on it so it’s a massive game and we have to kick on from the good result last Saturday.

“If we can go there, turn them over, and get the win — with all due respect — it would be great to keep us going in the run-in to the play-offs as well.

“We have tough games coming up with Corby, Poole and Truro. They are all tough ones from here on in.”

And Colwell, who was back in the Weymouth XI for last Saturday’s victory at Arlesey, is hopeful of retaining a starting spot this afternoon.

“It was nice to be back in and get the win,” he added.

“Being in and out of the team is something you can’t blame Jason (Matthews) for.

“With not picking up results he needed to change a few things, fingers crossed I’ll be in the team.”
