TWO of Moonfleet 2000 Indoor Bowling Club’s junior members, Brandon King and Ryan Nash have been selected to attend an England under-18 trial on Sunday, April 26, at the Rugby Thornfield Indoor Bowls Club.
If selected to represent the country, the duo will have to travel to Scotland in October to play in the Home International under-18 series.
King and Nash have both been regular members of the Moonfleet A Wessex League side during this season’s campaign and are also due to meet each other in the Dorset under-25 singles final.
Their success follows in the trail blazed by ace Martin Puckett, who also competed for England in the under-18 series.
He then progressed to under-25 level where he has now played for five years, and this year he received his first full England cap.
Puckett competed in the Home International Series in Stanley near Newcastle as England regained the trophy and the Weymouth man was named as England’s player of the series.
He is only the second player to have received the prestigious award on his debut, the other being Rob Paxton, the recently crowned double world champion.
- Moonfleet hold a Junior Club in their purpose-built indoor bowling centre at the Marsh, Knightsdale Road, every Saturday morning from 9.15am –11am. Coaches are in attendance every week and everyone is welcome. Visit weymouthindoorbowlingclub.co.uk for more details.
