GERAINT and Gareth Hughes successfully completed their 100 holes of golf in one day at Came Down Golf Club in aid of charity.

The father-son duo reached a century of holes 15 hours and 14 minutes having started their challenge at 5.10am and finished at 9.26pm.

In the process, the pair covered 62km (just over 38 miles) walking the fairways, greens and rough around the Weymouth course.

Over the combined 200 holes played the Hugheses had 16 birdies, 96 pars, 61 bogeys, 19 double bogeys and eight others.

Geraint and Gareth would both like to thank Peter Fry for being their scorer and flag man – both were amazed by Fry’s endurance and commitment.

Thanks also go to Azure Printing for kindly sponsoring the event, while the management and members at Came Down were very generous and supportive, something the two players were extremely grateful for.

To date more than £2,200, double the target, has been raised for Rowan Tree Cancer Care.
