BRING it on was the message from Dorchester athlete Paul Blake, after he was officially selected to compete in the IPC Athletics World Championships in Doha next month.

The county town star and Paralympic silver medallist will represent Great Britain in the T36 400m and 800m, set to take place between October 22-31.

Blake will be looking to defend his title in the 800m after scooping gold in the event at the last edition of the championships in Lyon – he also bagged silver in the 400m two years ago.

And Blake, who had the ‘A’ standard for both distances ahead of the final selection for the world event, was quick to thank British Athletics for his inclusion once again.

On his official Twitter account, he said: “Thank you @BritAthletics for selecting me for my third World Championships, bring it on!”

Speaking ahead of the event, Paralympic head coach, Paula Dunn told British Athletics: “It’s a really exciting team heading out to Doha for the IPC Athletics World Championships. We’ve got a real mix of athletes who have won medals on the global stage as well as a number of new faces, which is really encouraging looking ahead to the future.

“I know the team will leave no stone unturned to deliver the sort of performances that we witnessed in Lyon two years ago.”
