WEYMOUTH Ladies have recorded an outstanding performance at Newquay.

Hot on the heels of winning the Sidmouth Regatta, Weymouth Rowing Club (WRC) ladies’ crews competed in the Newquay Championship.

The racing was held in very challenging conditions, typical of the Atlantic coast, with gigs completely disappearing from view in the heavy swells.

However, Weymouth confronted the challenge with determination and returned a magnificent performance against the best gig rowers in the world.

WRC Ladies’ A crew finished in 21st place, the B crew were 30th while the C team took 66th, a very credible set of result against a registered 99 crews and conditions rarely seen on the south coast of Dorset.

WRC will hosting the Jurassic Fossils Regatta on Saturday, October 24, which will give the vets, super vets and Jurassic vets a day of racing.
