BOSS Bradley Asagba is confident that Weymouth Reserves can be more consistent during the second half of the season.

The Terras’ chief hopes a more settled team will help the Bob Lucas Stadium outfit string together a decent run of results in their last 17 Dorset Premier League fixtures.

Asagba’s men were undefeated in their first nine matches of the campaign in league and cup.

And the Weymouth manager is keen for a repeat of that form between now and the end of term.

Weymouth remain fifth in the table, nine points behind leaders Merley Cobham Sports, after their clash with Wareham on Saturday was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

However, they did get a run out with a friendly against Dorchester Sports on the 3G surface at Redlands – Sports edged it 1-0.

Looking ahead, Asagba, whose troops take on Holt next, said: “Whatever we do on a Saturday we have to try and better it the next one.

“The lads are young and it’s about improvement for them, but that’s not to say our results are irrelevant.

“We really want to get a more consistent run going.

“I’m confident we can do that and I’m looking forward to the second half of the season.

“We’ve got a clear idea of our squad going forward and over the next month we really want to emphasise our patterns of play and emphasise our philosophy.”

Asagba has been frustrated by injuries and unavailability so far this season, while he feels that the “transition from the previous management team has taken a bit longer than I thought it would or wanted it to”.

But there have been several positives for the Terras’ boss, with three of his players in particular standing out with their performances on the field.

“It goes without saying that Aston Butcher has come on massively this season,” he added.

“Craig Michie was starting to play some really good football before he got injured.

“Connor Cullingford has been exceptional with the impact he has made.”

Like the Terras in the Dorset Premier League, there was no action for Dorchester Sports in the Senior League on Saturday.

They were scheduled to take on Westland Sports Reserves but that was called off too.
