DORSET made a great start to the Cadet (under-15) County Championship season, and two Weymouth players were involved in their success at Waterside Table Tennis Club in Southampton.

April Heasman (Wey Valley School) and Will Jolliffe (Budmouth College) both played and picked up valuable points as Dorset remained unbeaten through the day.

Bournemouth’s Ali Malloch, who has played in the Weymouth League this season, and Kai Major remained unbeaten with a 100 per cent record.

Dorset gave debuts to three new players in Dane Major, Maia Biles and Yasmin Major and all performed extremely well.

After an easy 10-0 win against Wiltshire, Dorset managed to dig deep in the other matches to avoid defeat.

This puts them in a strong position for the next round of matches in April when both Weymouth players will be involved again.

The match scores were as follows: Dorset 10 Wiltshire 0, Dorset 6 Sussex III 4, Dorset 5 Sussex II 5, Dorset 7 Surrey II 3.
