WEYMOUTH Rowing club notched up a good set of results at the Bristol Annual Regatta and the Annual Supervets Regatta last weekend.

Weymouth entered three crews to the competition in Bristol and enjoyed the colourful atmosphere with BBQ, raffle and stalls.

One member said: “Rowing was paused at one point to allow the Balmoral to leave her berth.”

The junior crew battled hard for second place and made the club proud. The ladies' crew came sixth and the men seventh.

In Appledore, Devon, the club also attended the third annual supervets regatta.

This event is only for rowers over 50. There were 22 clubs from the south west and more than 250 rowers competing over two days of racing.

Conditions were good with racing sprints down the River Torridge.

The ladies’ A team achieved second place overall after fighting hard with Ilfracombe in the final.

The men also made the final and achieved fifth place overall.

The Ladies B team made a brave fight to just miss out on qualification for the semi-finals and finished fourth in their heat.

Weymouth represented well in the south west and the crews will now continue to train hard for the upcoming World Championships in the Isles of Scilly.
