WEYSPORTS are looking for success following the start of the new summer season in the South and West Dorset League.

The winter season saw Ayya relegated from Division One and Café Oasis earn their highest place in Division Two.

The end-of-season awards bash saw mid-court wonder Jane Snarey take the players’ player award for Ayya and defender Chloe Calton for Café Oasis.

Centre-court pocket rocket Merryn Harvey was awarded the most improved award, newcomer and back to netball graduate Candice Barton was voted best newcomer.

Over the close season, the club has continued to train hard in bid to prepare for the new season.

The club have recruited new young players, Holly Hansford in the shooting circle and Kara Draper in centre court.

Ayya’s captain Tasha Lund said: “We have been training hard since the winter season has ended. I am hopeful that we are going to have a successful season.”

Coach Juliette Frampton added “The girls have trained hard over the last three months and we have changed things around in the teams to mix it up, I am looking forward to seeing how the teams perform.”

Ayya scored their first points of the season against newcomers Beaminster Bombers and Café Oasis played against OTC on the opening night of the season.

Frampton said: “We are still looking for more players, particularly those that can play GD or C.”

The club train on a Tuesday evening from 7pm-8.15pm at Budmouth College on the outside courts.
