THE Devils collected the Dorchester and District League ladies’ crown for the fifth year running at the league’s annual presentation evening, held at the Trinity Club.

The first ladies also celebrated a double on the night after landing the Knockout Cup to go with their league crown.

About 220 members attended the evening, some in fancy dress, and after the presentation of the trophies there was a very successful draw for members that took place, which raised more than £300 for league funds.

The trophies were presented by Robert Legg and his wife Diane.

Robert, who has been on the committee for 28 years and also played in the league for over 50 years, was invited to present the trophies as a mark of his long involvement with the league, as he is set to step down from the committee at the league’s upcoming AGM.

He was presented with a tankard and his wife Diane was presented with a bouquet of flowers.

Colliton Imps won Men’s Section A, Section B was claimed by Jolly Green Giants, who also sealed a double of their own by winning the Men’s Knockout Cup.

Carrot Crunchers took the Section C title, while Section D was won by Jokers.

Colliton Wide Boys won the the Plate.

The Ladies’ Plate was claimed by Woodpeckers.

Brian Keegan, who plays for Barmy Army, earned the singles title after a brilliant night of skittles at the Trinity Club.

The Sticker-up Cup was won by Ellis Thorpe of Essentials for the second year running.

The final 16 open pairs played off at the Victoria Hotel with the eventual winners being Steve Crewe and Keith Legg of Wool RBL Misfits. The Secretaries’ Shield for the men was won by Edd Legg of Greenstars and Vicki Cooper of Top Cats won the Ladies’ Shield.

The Ladies’ Pairs was collected by Tracy Critchell and Cammilla Gosney of Devils, while the trophy for most Oxos in a season was Crossfire Ladies.

The wooden spoon for the least number of points gained was Huntsmen.

Steve Cheeseman of Colliton A was the men’s league top scorer with 85 and Jennie Sims of Oakettes was the highest lady with 78.
