JURASSIC Coast Raptors made another steady improvement in their clash with the Cornish Sharks but they were still defeated 29-0.

Earlier on in the season the two teams met and the Newquay-based Sharks walked to a 49-13 victory.

This time around it was a different game as the Raptors’ offence clicked and the defence stopped their opponents on three consecutive drives, including a goal-line stand.

The Sharks struggled to move the ball until into the second quarter when the stalemate was broken as the Sharks’ punt returner carried the ball almost 50 yards after multiple missed tackles on the Raptors’ special team.

He was tackled just short of the end zone by Chris Cole. Three plays later and the visitors scored.

The game stayed close throughout with the hosts’ offence and defence showing that they are learning what it takes to win.

Head coach Bill Heinrich said: “We need to learn to be more clinical in our finishing, we need to take every opportunity that’s given to us and believe that we can dominate teams at home.

“Our first win is on the way.”

The Raptors’ next chance to get that first victory comes this Sunday (2.30pm) against Swindon Storm.

The bar will be open and there will be an American style barbecue parking is free.
