A CLUB featuring the top teams within the South & West Dorset League are now hungry to defend the Premier Division titles, as players enter into the winter season campaign.

Arethusans Netball Club have had their most glittering season to date, with Belle Construction triumphant in both winter and most recently summer Premier battles.

Both teams ended the season on top spot with the same points (54 points), only goal difference deciding the spoils and Belle Construction pipping their sister club by only 32 goals.

A delighted club manager Kelly Browne said: “I strongly believe our success is down to the careful blend of experience, youth, outstanding commitment from every member.

“Also, this season making the decision to bring our structured training indoors delivered by our inspiring UKCC level three coach Louise Bugler and having the security of supportive sponsors who are in line with our core value of ‘hard work.”

Club coach Bugler added: “This year’s special achievements were earned from the club’s uniformed approach and talented players – featuring gritty defenders who take inspiration from the physicality evident at the international level, creative mid-court players and the ‘whizzbanging’ shooters means we are able to grind out results.”

Budmouth Community Sports Centre will continue to play host to a display of athleticism, competitiveness and strong team identities, according to league chairman Louise Bugler.

She said: “Many of the players have grown roots, assuming instinctive alliance to the coaches and team-mates, which makes for goal alignment on a personal and team perspective.

“New Body Fitness captain Lauren Walker, boasts of the effort and work rate intensity, which makes for a uniformed approach during excellent training sessions and fierce competitions on a Thursday night when we play.

“Belle Construction and New Body Fitness will continue to strive for success, while supporting and developing our new members; recently introducing Lucy Churchill and Chantelle Lewis into the fold.

“It is with a heavy heart the pink ladies have to say farewell to Caitlin Dive as she embarks on her next academic and sporting challenge while she is studying at

her university. But we welcome new signing Katherine Wilberforce, who currently features in the England Netball Regional Pathway squad.”
