RED-HOT George Bar & Grill enjoyed a scoring feast against Bay Fencing.
George dominated play in the first quarter, showing some fantastic fluid passing and staunch defending, leaving Bay struggling to get the ball in their shooting circle.
Bay came back fighting in the second quarter but could not stem the flow of George Bar & Grill’s shooters, whose phenomenal shooting helped their team to a 40-goal lead at the halfway mark.
Bay continued to throw everything they had at the George, with Sandra Firth’s dynamic mid-court play leading to her earning the player of the match honour.
George defence duo, Nikki Marsh and Laura Pearson, created an impenetrable wall in Bay’s goal third, making it nearly impossible for the shooters to get goal scoring opportunities.
Bay Fencing’s determination shone through in the final quarter but ultimately it was the George’s ability throughout the court that gave them the win.

LAST-GASP Smugglers earned a draw with a levelling score right on the final whistle.
In what proved to be a nail-biting match, both teams started out well, with great turnover balls and evenly-paced match play.
Wyke centre Julie Gear provided her shooters with some great balls into the circle and Tracey Moore was quick to score in her position at GA.
Artifex WD Jules Frampton, was a dominant player throughout the game, getting great turnovers for her team and keeping the energy high. Artifex centre Jane Snarey worked the ball well through the mid-court and provided great communication to keep her team-mates on course. Each team held the lead numerous times through the match, with the levelling goal coming from Smugglers as the final whistle blew.

TEAM WAIKIKI 16
OJOS’ experienced play earned them the victory over Team Waikiki.
An evenly-matched start saw a lot of movement up and down the court with great interceptions being made in the shooting thirds but OJOs pushed ahead to gain the lead.
OJOs’ C Kathy Sims displayed good control of the ball going down the court, allowing her team to increase their lead.
Waikiki’s defenders Lauren Stones and Sophie Marquis, fought hard to limit OJOs’ scoring opportunities but Mandy Grafton’s long-range shooting accuracy gave OJOs the advantage.
Tactical changes in the Waikiki line-up brought lots of interceptions and faster-paced play to the game, with the high number of turnovers leading to fewer goals being scored by both teams.
In the end it was OJOs’ experience and superb shooting that kept them in front in this tightly-contested match.
Division Two
GIRLING & BOWDITCH 39
ALLWAYS REMOVALS 28
LEADERS Allways were rocked by Girling & Bowditch.
Allways started well, with excellent defence and dynamic mid-court play, giving them an early lead.
Girling & Bowditch managed to close the gap with great shooting from GS Emily England.
In the second quarter, Girling started to pull ahead with good interceptions, giving them more opportunities to score.
Allways showed strong defence however, limiting Girling’s ability to stretch their lead.
Allways came back strong in the third quarter, with three quick goals in succession allowing them to draw level.
Centre Emma Parry, worked tirelessly to move the ball around the court and WA Catherine Simmons, displayed great skill and stamina with excellent interceptions and all-round impressive play leading to level scores going into the final period.
Girling’s GA Kat Frampton, created some impressive drives into the circle, which proved difficult for Allways’ defence and added much-needed goals to Girling’s scorecard, allowing them to claim victory.
