BUDMOUTH B maintained their winning start to the season in Division One with a 28-8 success over Colliton X.

Jamie Blair won his three matches for the loss of only one game to keep his 100 per cent match record.

Will Jolliffe also won all three matches with Tony Loveridge scoring the only win on the night for Colliton.

YMCA also just lost the one game in their 27-6 victory over Shipton Gorge A.

Steve White (9) and Ken Brake (9) both top scored for YMCA with Miranda Edwardes recording the lone win for Shipton.

Springfield B beat Budmouth C 26-17 in what was a very close game.

No one managed to win all their matches on the night but Paul Manvell, Paul Arnold and Neil Hardisty each won eight legs in very hard-fought matches.

Forty-three of the 50 possible legs were contested, 19 of which went to 11-9 or deuce.

Red Triangle secured their maiden win of the season in beating Preston B 26-13. Mike Spracklen (9) top scored for the victors with Josh Harman (8) getting a majority of Preston’s points.

Shipton Gorge C continued their good start to the season in Division Two with a 24-17 over Pilgrims A.

Joachim Wood scored a maximum for Shipton with Tim Scott (8) scoring well for Pilgrims.

All Saints slipped to their first loss of the season when beaten 15-22 by Preston A. This was in part down to them only being able to field two players on the night but they were still in with a chance until the final singles.

Eddie Chapman (5) beat Ben Hannigan (6) in that final singles to put them in to an unbeatable four- point lead going into the doubles.

Springfield C left Wyke D still looking for their first win of the season in beating them 25-15.

Wyke veteran Gordon Bissett showed his experience in gaining the maximum nine on the evening.

Ian South (5) was on the losing end to two five-setters against Rook and Steve Rockett (7) while Pete Anderson (8) helped Springfield C to a hard-fought victory.

Preston C came from behind to beat Colliton C 21-19. A maximum from Colliton’s Mark Whittingham could not stop Greg Clarke (7) and Thierry Roy (7) securing a tight win in securing the closing doubles 3-2.

Springfield D lie second in Division Three after a hard fought 23-14 win over the all female Preston D team.

Some very close matches and a truly scintillating doubles summed up the night.

All the girls played exciting table tennis and pushed Springfield all the way. Pilgrims B beat the ever-competitive Wey Valley School 21-17. Pilgrims’ Barry Thomas (9) top scored on the night and he teamed up with Alec Bailey (7) to seal victory with a 3-0 win over Ethan Bingham (5) and Thomas Wheeler (6) in the doubles.

Wyke C were victorious over Wey Valley TC with a 27-9 scoreline. The experienced Wyke team triumphed as the enthusiastic rookie team from Wey Valley continue to gain experience of competitive table tennis.

Last year’s top player in the third tier was made to draw on all of his experience to beat 10-year-old Jess Moggeridge, Roy Sharp coming back from 2-0 down and winning the fifth 11-9.

Budmouth D have made an encouraging start to life in the league. Jed Brackenridge led the way against STEPS M by winning all his matches although Martin Singer took him all the way.

Noah Drummond (8) and Ben Howe (7) provided excellent support but Singer had them dancing to his tune as he beat both of them in close encounters.

An overall 27-12 win for the boys sent them home in good spirits.
