AUTOBITZ 47

POACHERS 27

AUTOBITZ fired on all cylinders to take the points in this top-flight contest.

Autobitz got off to an explosive start, claiming the first two goals of the match.

Poachers quickly picked up the pace with some brilliant interceptions.

The wind did its best to disrupt play for both teams, causing the ladies to change tactics and rely more on shorter passes to get the ball down the court.

Poachers’ C Kelly Hedges showed real skill at finding open space, allowing her team to move the ball effortlessly towards their goal circle.

However, Autobitz showed excellent defensive skills, intercepting balls and sending them back up the court.

Autobitz WA Rachel Lockwood made some fantastic passes to her shooters, who didn’t miss the opportunity to convert.

Despite relentless effort from Poachers, Autobitz were the dominant team on court and finished with a comfortable win.

Division Two

BASEPOINT 28

COASTAL CHEESES 28

HONOURS were even after Coastal Cheeses and Basepoint finished all square.

The game started in very windy conditions and Coastal Cheeses were quick to show off their defence with tight marking.

Thanks to strong winds and some mid-court errors from Coastal Cheeses, Basepoint were able to take the first quarter by one goal.

The game continued evenly through the second and third periods, with good movement up the court by Basepoint’s centre-court players, including WA Halle Patterson.

Coastal Cheeses’ defensive duo Ellie Cumpsty and Fiona Goldsmith showed remarkable skill, making it difficult for Basepoint to get the ball into their shooters.

The lead kept switching, quarter on quarter, and as the final whistle blew, the teams found themselves with equal points.

Division One

OTC 24

TEAM WAIKIKI 19

OTC soared to victory after giving an excellent show in high winds.

Right from the outset, OTC showed their determination with some excellent game play, particularly from GA Briony White, who displayed great athleticism by dodging and passing around the circle.

Not to be outdone, Waikiki fought back and managed to get the ball to their GS Katy Lenesham, who made some impressive long shots in the extreme conditions.

However, OTC’s defence cranked it up a notch, with some phenomenal interceptions sending the ball back down the court to OTC’s shooting circle, allowing them to convert and maintain their lead.

Waikiki displayed some excellent defence in OTC’s goal circle and the game remained close throughout.

Ultimately though, it was OTC who came out on top with a five-goal win.

Division One

CRESTA LEISURE 38

ARTIFEX HOME IMPROVEMENTS 32

DEPLETED Cresta Leisure showed great determined and skill to beat Artifex.

As any netballer knows, having only five players on court means the game gets a lot harder! Add to that, extremely windy conditions and near freezing temperatures and it can seem like a hopeless cause – but not to the brave ladies of Cresta Leisure.

Cresta’s GK Olivia May started well and worked hard to keep the ball out of the hands of Artifex’ shooters.

The wind seemed to be helping them, pushing Artifex’ attempts at scoring wayward.

Cresta’s shooters were able to find the net, allowing them to carve out a small lead, despite Artifex having more attempts at goal.

The second period saw Artifex’ shooters finding better space in the circle and closing in on Cresta’s lead.

WD for Artifex Merryn Harvey put good pressure on her opponents and seized some fantastic interceptions for her team.

Windy conditions continued to affect play but Cresta’s shooters were able to retain the rebounds and slowly build their team’s lead.

Patience and experience allowed Cresta to maintain their lead until the end, walking away with a six-goal victory.
