THE Clay Pigeon Kart Club held their annual awards evening, which followed the retirement of Jenson Button from Formula One.
Button was the 1988 Clay Pigeon Cadet Club champion who achieved his ambition of becoming the Formula One world champion.
The Cadet Club champion for 2016 was Ollie Tyler from Newton Abbott with Weymouth’s Charlie Vaughan runner-up in this very competitive class.
Thomas Martin from Chickerell won the Senior Rotax Class with brother Daniel winning the Rotax 177 Class and the South West Regional Championship.
Daniel also picked up the Matt Percy Memorial Trophy for the club’s sporting personality of the year.
The luckiest winner of the evening was 13-year-old Luke Rendall from Taunton who won a new Mazda 2SEL in the raffle in which every competitor was given a raffle ticket each time they raced.
