COLIN Tizzard’s stellar campaign continued with a cross-card double at Fontwell and Chepstow on Sunday.

The Milborne Port handler, who had Finian’s Oscar score a big victory in the Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown a day previously, initially followed up when 5-2 favourite Bears Rails scooped a handicap Chase at Fontwell.

Ridden by talented conditional jockey Harry Cobden, the seven-year-old got home by six lengths to overcome second-placed Sonny The One, trained by Blandford-based Robert Walford.

That victory was Bears Rails’ third in his career from 15 starts.

Team Tizzard did not have to wait too much longer to seal another success on the afternoon.

The yard’s next winner came at Chepstow when eight-year-old Allchilledout combined with jockey Aiden Coleman to win a novices chase, priced at 8-1. Tizzard’s charge got up ahead of Krackatoa King to seal the victory. Walford-trained Albert D’olivate, who is part-owned by Terras’ chairman Chris Pugsley, finished fourth.

Tizzard has also heaped praise on a potential dark horse for the Cheltenham Gold Cup in March.

While favourite Thistlecrack and Welsh national winner Native River are expected to line up in the event, Alary, who is owned by Alan and Ann Potts, has also been impressing the Dorset trainer at his Venn Farm home.

He told the Racing Post: “Alary was very good this morning (on Sunday) on the gallops. I don’t know when he will run but he’s very good, I’ll tell you that.”

Alary is listed as a 25-1 shot to claim the Blue Riband event with most leading bookmakers.
