CAFÉ OASIS 29
WJNC 26
CAFÉ Oasis had the edge in a tightly contested battle with Weymouth Juniors, writes Becky Barton.
Both teams started strongly in this first game of the new year.
WJNC’s GK Skyla Erskie and GD Izzie Roberts showed great defensive skill, collecting rebounds and sending the ball back towards their shooters, allowing them to build a small lead.
Tactical position changes from WJNC put pressure on Café Oasis, whose defence rose to the challenge, making timely interceptions and shutting down WJNC’s scoring opportunities.
Café Oasis steadily built their confidence and showed great teamwork, with WA Beth McSevney feeding some spectacular balls into the circle. GS Candice Barton capitalised on this, eking out a small lead for Café Oasis.
WJNC stepped up their game and pushed Café Oasis to a competitive fourth quarter. Both teams showed great teamwork and determination but in the end it was Café Oasis who claimed the win.

COASTAL CHEESES 40
STIKA 23
LEADERS Stika were rocked after being beaten by Coastal Cheeses.
The game started competitively, with the energy of both defensive teams keeping the score tight.
An unfortunate injury for Stika interrupted their flow but they managed to hold on to a one-goal lead at the end of the first quarter.
Coastal Cheeses came into the second quarter swinging. The power of their play seemed to destabilise Stika, who were unable to breach the defence of Coastal Cheeses’ GK.
Coastal Cheeses’ GA dominated play with exceptional attacking and shooting skill, helping her team to build a solid lead.
Despite every effort from Stika, including brilliant defence from Claudia Crocker at GD and Zoe McClusker at GK, they could not overcome the early injury to stem the flow of Coastal Cheeses’ determination.
Coastal Cheeses performed spectacularly and went away with a well-deserved win.

CRESTA LEISURE 22
WETHERSPOONS 57
WETHERSPOONS remain unbeaten as season nears its climax.
The match started evenly, with the teams putting up both strong defensive and attacking play.
The weather created some slippery conditions and Wetherspoons took advantage of this to carve out a 10-goal lead by the end of the second quarter.
Cresta came back with some phenomenal centre-court play, with Janet Parker at WD and Alison Sperring at WA, moving the ball smoothly across the court.
Not to be outdone, JD Wetherspoons showed why they are division leaders, with some great attacking play and on point shooting from GS, Sam Rees, extending their lead even further.
Cresta showed flashes of their extensive experience in the final period, slowing the game down and controlling play expertly but the unwavering energy from the JD Wetherspoons team proved impossible to control and JD Wetherspoons remain unbeaten this season, with only two matches left to play.

Waikiki upped their defence in response to O'Jos precise interception skills. O'JoS GA, Chloe Weldon, showed dynamic play by creating great space in the shooting circle.
Team Waikiki displayed superb teamwork and moved the ball up the court towards their shooters with controlled skill.
The shooters were on good form, rarely missing a shot at goal and GA Linda Rawcliffe moved well in the circle.
O'Jos continued to fight for the win, with their defensive team showing great determination and energy but they were not able to keep up with the dynamic play of Team Waikiki, who racked up the goals and ended the game with a 32-goal lead.
