THE Dorchester & District League held their presentation evening at the Trinity Club.

About 240 members attended the evening, some in fancy dress, and after the presentation of the trophies there was a very successful draw for members took place which raised more than £275 for league funds.

The trophies were presented by Phil and Malcolm Slade, and Malcolm’s wife Sally.

Phil is the league’s treasurer and Malcolm and Sally are long-serving members of the committee.

They were invited to present the trophies by the league as a mark of respect for their father Roy Slade who for many years was a prominent skittler in the league and who sadly passed away last year.

The trio have very kindly donated a new Section C trophy in memory of Roy.

Sally was presented with a bouquet of flowers as a small token from the league.

Barmy Army won Men’s Section A and the Men’s Knockout Cup.

Section B was claimed by Woodmen, Section C by Mrs Browns Boys and Section D by Rebels.

Colliton Wide Boys won the Plate.

The Ladies’ Section was taken by Devils once again for the sixth year running and they also claimed the Ladies’ Plate.

The Ladies’ Knockout Cup was collected by Oakettes.

Darryl Burt, who plays for Skimmers, won the singles, after a brilliant night of skittles at the Trinity Club.

The Sticker-up Cup was taken by Callum Hounsome of Brewers Bees.

The final 16 open pairs played off at the Trinity Club with the eventual winners being Lee Aplin and Alan Aplin of Colliton Flingers.

The Secretaries Shield for the men was claimed by Edd Legg of Greenstars and Mel Gosney of Devils won the Ladies’ Shield.

Rachael Cannon and Louise Legg, of Crackerjacs, were crowned ladies’ pairs champions.

The trophy for most oxos in a season was Woodpeckers with 12.

The wooden spoon for the least number of points gained was shared between Coach and Heffers and Colli-Cats.

Russell Goff of Carrot Crunchers was the men’s league top scorer with 89 and Kelly Mitchell of Oakettes was the highest lady with 73.
