WEYMOUTH Hockey Club hosted its Sevens Festival at Redlands.

The tournament was a re-design of the club's former Easter Festival.

Weymouth entered two ladies and two men's teams for the outdoor games and two mixed teams and a ladies and men's team for the indoor matches.

Gina Brown from the club said: "We had 11 teams enter the festival from Manchester, Newcastle, Wales and Cornwall to name but a few.

"We held outdoor games on the Saturday and indoor games on the Sunday.

"In the evening we took the teams on the Park Street shuffle of pubs which was very successful.

"Despite the rain, everyone had a great time and it was a great success. We are looking forward to running the festival again next year.

"We would like to thanks Redlands Sports Centre in working with us to make the redesign of the festival a success.

"Alex Ford from the Poet Laureate for providing the amazing barbecue food on site and Stylish Stitches for making our home team festival kit.

"All the teams said that Weymouth was a great town to visit and how everyone made them really welcome and that they will definitely be coming back again."
