DORCHESTER athlete Paul Blake has been selected for this year’s IPC World Para Athletics Championships in London next month.
The county town star, who sealed gold in the T36 400-metres and silver in the 800m at the Paralympics in Rio last summer, is bidding to add to his success at world level, having won seven medals at the World Championships since 2011.
Following his selection, the middle distance runner, who is coached by Rob Ellchuk, tweeted: “Thanks to @BritAthletics and especially @rob1166 for getting me to my fourth World Champs.”
Speaking after the squad announcement, GB Para Athletics head coach, Paula Dunn, said: “We have selected a very strong team for the World Para Athletics Championships in London and I am delighted to see so many medallists from Rio lining up alongside some new faces at the senior level.
“Having a home World Championship is very special for all the athletes, coaches and team staff, so we are all very honoured to be representing the British team this summer.”
