MOSTERTON handler Anthony Honeyball celebrated success on the flat at Sandown, as three-year-old Jukebox Jive held on to claim the Clarendelle, Inspired By Haut-Brion Handicap.

Going off at 100-30, Jukebox Jive, ridden by jockey David Egan, held off the challenge of Veiled Secret (6-1) to win by a neck and land his winning connections a considerable £5,822 in prize money.

Odds-on favourite Splash Around was third for Ryan Moore and Sir Michael Stoute.

A post on Honeyball’s official website said: “It looked a competitive handicap on paper with a number of powerful flat yards represented and we were very happy to see Jukebox Jive triumph again.

“With his usual rider John Egan on the sidelines through injury, we turned to his son David who is making a name for himself as a five-pound claiming apprentice.

“There are no immediate plans for Jukebox Jive who seems to handle any ground and will be campaigned in some decent handicaps as the season goes on.”

And the Dorset yard, who are normally known for producing National Hunt horses, are pondering putting Jukebox Jive over obstacles.

The post added: “While he has already given us lots of fun on the flat long term we might even think about a second career for him over hurdles.”
