WEYMOUTH Wildcats will travel to Somerset’s Oak Tree Arena looking for a “bit of revenge” when they face Exeter Falcons in their latest Southern Development League fixture on Friday evening.

The Wildcats are aiming to notch their first victory of the season at the venue, near Burnham-on-Sea, and in the process avenge a narrow 19-17 defeat at the hands of Exeter in Plymouth back in May.

Wildcats’ co-promoter James Tresadern is hoping his squad matches its most recent performance against the Falcons.

He said: “We’d like to keep it as tight as we can, make it a real tight match, which is what it was last time.

“We’re all keyed-up for a bit of revenge. The other teams have got national league riders throughout, whereas we keep it to development league riders and it’s a lot closer and tighter than people think so we’re happy to do that.”

Skipper Martin French misses the meeting as his partner has had a baby, so Kenny Bowdery will instead captain the four-man team.

Commenting on the neutral venue, Tresadern is relishing setting his riders loose on a Premiership-quality surface.

“We have been up there a few times. We had two losses and one win against Exeter there last season. We’ve had a couple of good scraps with them up there.

“It’s a track which is nice and well-prepared for the Premiership. I believe they (Somerset Rebels) have Leicester there before us,” he said.
