BELLE CONSTRUCTION 55

TEAM WAIKIKI 17

BELLE maintained their title push after beating bottom side Team Waikiki.

Right from the outset, Waikiki GK Vicki Winter, was determined to keep Belle from scoring, using accurate marking and a great stretch to deny Belle’s shooters opportunities to score.

Five minutes into the match, Carly Lawes (Belle WD) was carried off court with an ankle injury.

Seasoned umpires, Sue Lee and Nicky Marsh, controlled the game magnificently, with intelligent use of playing advantage.

Shooting from Belle's GA Leanne Holmes was spot on and Belle extended their lead.

Jo Baldwin, Waikiki C, relentlessly chased down every ball, never giving up.

Belle responded with C Charlie Naerger and WA Annalise Dive providing dynamic balls into the circle.

Waikiki showed perseverance, with WD Sam Cowley and WA Leah Stockley working hard to create opportunities for their team.

The final quarter saw changes to Waikiki’s shooting partnership but it came too late, as Belle sealed the win with a convincing 38-goal lead.

CAFÉ OASIS 19

LEADERS Cresta cruised to victory over basement side Café Oasis.

Both teams showed determination in the first quarter, demonstrating excellent use of the court with strong passing.

However, Cresta’s determination shone through, and with some exceptional shooting from GS Carolyn Allgood, they were able to take an early lead.

Café Oasis came back fighting, with a superb interception from C Jane Snarey, giving Oasis a chance to close the gap; however, Cresta’s GD Jayne Guppy, worked expertly to prevent scoring opportunities for Oasis, moving the ball back towards her shooters and allowing Cresta to increase their lead going into the final quarter.

Café Oasis GK Tasha Lund made some brilliant turnovers for her team; however, Cresta remained strong and pushed ahead to secure the win.

OJOS 45

BASEPOINT 30

OJOS maintained top position after seeing off Basepoint.

The game started evenly-matched, with both teams finding their rhythm early on, however, OJOs showed why they are division leaders, capitalising on scoring opportunities to carve out a small lead.

Basepoint upped their game in the middle quarters, starting to close the score gap, with tactical changes having a positive impact on their game, as well as sharp defence from Halle Patterson, GD, and Christine Jones, GK.

OJOs responded with increased pace and precise interceptions, moving the ball towards the circle where GA Mandy Grafton was waiting to convert these opportunities to points.

In the final quarter, fatigue began to set in for both sides, resulting in slower-paced play. OJOs' experience showed as they worked well as a team to further increase their lead and claimed the victory.

STIKA 29

BAY FENCING 18

BAY Fencing suffered a title blow after losing to Stika.

An evenly matched start saw great defence by both teams, sending the ball up and down court without many goals being scored.

Stika made good use of the court width to move the ball around but it was the accuracy at distance shooting from Bay’s Charlotte Reid that allowed Bay to edge out a slight lead in the first quarter.

The match continued with impeccable defence from Stika’s GD Claudia Crocker and GK Ali Britten, limiting Bay's scoring opportunities to only one goal in the second quarter.

Despite excellent play from Bay, including dynamic interceptions from Bay's C Hayley Stanton, Stika pulled out a comfortable 12 goal lead going into the final period.

Bay Fencing made some tactical changes and fought hard to close the gap in the final 15 minutes. However, Stika continued their strong play and came away with a hard-fought win.
