CAME Down ladies’ captains Sue Davies and Carolyn Pike, held their Captains’ Day despite the poor weather forecast.

With torrential rain looming, the ladies settled for a shortened course, with a Bowmaker format over nine holes.

The winners were Gaye Thompson, Ann Talbot and Lynda Walker with 41 points.

Runners-up were: Sue Stokey, Mary Crampton and Rosy Birch (39pts), while in third were Julie Lawes, Jill Anscombe and Wendy Waite (37pts).

In fourth place were Maureen Prowse, Jenny Feely and Mel Hooley (35pts), fifth were Rhose Lawes, Gayle Laybourn and Sue Davies (34pts) and sixth were Libby Smeaton, Margaret Jones and Hilda Lane with 33pts.

An amazing eagle two was achieved by Rosy Birch on the par four seventh and Pat Russell gained a two on the par three second hole.

The ladies’ Birch Cup Foursomes was held on a rather unpleasant evening, and again the competition was reduced in length. The ladies enjoyed a welcome supper after their games and once they had dried out.

The winners were the pairing of the Ladies’ Captains, Carolyn Pike and Sue Davies, the trophy was presented by Mary Crampton and Jenny Feely.
