TUESDAY evening saw the final Weymouth League night of the season.

Twenty-one teams took part in the final event of the summer and for the first time both the A and B Series came down to the final matches to decide the Kings or Queens of the Beach.

The A Series could not have been closer with Ryan Stout, playing with Sean Hendry. The duo just edging out Craig Bishop with a 21-19 win over Bishop who was playing with Don Jokubauskas.

For the first time there was a female winner in the B Series as Sofia Martinez took the title.

Playing with her partner Becky O’Neill she took the title with a final win 21-16 over Mark Johnson and Jason Tranter.

This was easily the most successful season for the league so far with 93 players scoring at least one point in either the A or B section over the season and a number of new young teams emerging at the top end of the tables.

Weymouth Beach Volleyball Club is now firmly established as one of the biggest in the country.

The final evening also saw the return after seven years of Eliot Crowe.

Crowe now lives in the USA and was over for a holiday.

Many older Weymouth players will remember Crowe very well as one of the best ever Weymouth players.

He used to be a regular partner with Graeme Sawyer so this Tuesday he teamed up with the next generation of the Sawyer family and played with Elliott Sawyer.

Crowe showed he had not lost too many of his skills as the pair reached the semi-final.
