TORBAY TROJANS 30

JURASSIC COAST RAPTORS 16

THE Jurassic Coast Raptors took another road trip, this time to Torquay to face the Torbay Trojans.

The Trojans, like the Raptors, sit near the bottom of Division Two, managing two wins so far this season, looking to take their third in front of their home fans.

The first half started well for the Raptors. Driving down the field on the power running of full-back James Broughton, the visitors got in the Trojan red-zone, but the drive stalled.

However, the Raptors were within range of a field goal, which Chris Cole duly converted.

Both teams were forced to punt on their next drives, but following another Trojan punt, Sean Tapping fielded the ball and ran it right back for a touchdown.

Torbay scored with a beautifully flighted pass over the top of the Raptors' defence caught by the Trojan receiver in the end-zone.

The Raptors had to punt again, but on the ensuing Trojan possession Sean Tapping intercepted the ball and ran it in for another touchdown.

At half-time, the score was a very creditable16-7 in favour of the Raptors.

Unfortunately for the Raptors that was as good as it got.

In the second half, the Trojans worked out that the Raptors couldn’t reliably stop the power run, and kept using it to drive down the field, scoring three touchdowns.

The Raptors lost the threat of James Broughton and quarterback Tom Davis to injuries, and couldn’t consistently move the ball.

Though the Raptors remained a threat on special teams and kept the Trojans honest with their defence, they couldn’t put any more points on the board.

So with the final score 30-16, the Raptors look forward to their last game this season.

Another road trip, this time to an impressive Swindon Storm side looking to finish the season in style.

Once again, the Raptors will face an uphill challenge to keep the score competitive.
