THE Wey Valley Recreational Gymnastics Club has sprung back into action.

Since 2013, South Dorset schools have received a Government Sports Premium grant to develop sport in their school alongside developing closer links with sport clubs in their local community in order to provide a broader exposure to a range of sports such as athletics, football, gymnastics, rugby, swimming and tennis.

This Sports Premium grant also helps to increase participation levels in sport and healthy activity of pupils; and to maintain these into adolescence.

The Wey Valley Recreational Gymnastics Club has benefited greatly from having close links to all the schools in the South Dorset area.

Club organiser Don Whistance said: "The main way which schools have informed parents over the years has been by handing out the varied sports clubs application forms.

"A more productive format, which some schools are now trialling, is to actually email the application forms directly to the parents.

"This superb idea will inform all the parents in South Dorset schools more effectively, whilst conserving paper, that a variety of sports clubs exist in their local community."
