WEST Dorset Swimming Club, took part in the annual Southern Junior League competition.

This takes place from June until September, where local teams compete against each other over three galas.

This competition is for swimmers aged nine to 12 years on the date of the last gala.

For many, this is their first experience of competitive swimming.

The club were fortunate to be the home team for all three galas.

Round one, took place in June at 1610 Sports Centre in Dorset, where West Dorset welcomed Chard, Devonport Royals and Tornadoes of South Dorset swimming clubs.

Round two, took place in July and West Dorset competed again against Chard, North Dorset Turbos and Tornadoes of South Dorset.

The final gala, in September saw West Dorset welcome Yeovil, Poole and Chard, who completed all three galas.

This is a great introduction for swimmers in a fun but spirited league to gain experience and confidence in swimming competitively. WDSC won two of the three galas overall.

WDSC coach said, Dave McRobbie: “The team had a great feel and I couldn’t be prouder of all their efforts over the three events.

"We are extremely delighted with the girls' 12 years relay team, which won all their events in all the three galas.”
