PAUL Paice produced his best darts in week 11 to claim two victories and push himself closer to a top-10 spot with a possible seventh in sight.

Paice, with his fast aggressive throwing style, took the ascendancy in both his matches winning 4-2 against Wayne Jordan and then 4-1 against Paul Dormer, bucking the trend of previous weeks where he had let leads slip.

On a night that once again produced some fantastic finishing, Nigeria Davis would also put in two great performances drawing 3-3 with Simon Sharpe and then beating the unfortunate Wayne Jordan 4-2, who suffered two defeats in total.

Sharpe had a mixed night playing three games in total and after being thrashed 4-0 in his opening match with Simon Churchill and drawing with Davis he finally faced Mel Burton.

Burton had a 14-dart leg, while Sharpe replied with a 15-dart leg and a 104 checkout to claim a 3-3 draw.

Another 14-dart leg in his first match of the evening would see third-placed Burton beat fifth-placed Churchill 4-2.

Sibling Chris Burton started the evening missing another hatful of doubles against fourth-placed Andy Masters, which let him down after matching scores with his opponent, eventually losing 4-0.

Chris Burton did however produce the finishing touches in his 4-2 win over Scott Gannon and a fantastic 146 checkout topped off a good win.

Top two Andrew McDermott and Danny Aplin produced some superb darts in their respective matches, winning both their games, hitting a 180 each and also hitting two 100+ checkouts.

Leader McDermott had a scare from Trevor Honnor in his opening match with Honnor missing too many doubles at 3-2 down and letting the leader steal the sixth leg and a 4-2 win.

McDermott then produced his best performance of the season in his hotly anticipated game with current form player Masters. McDermott hit a treble 18, treble 18, double top for a 148 finish and then a 120 on his way to a 4-0 victory.

Not to be out done, Aplin would go one better in his matches on the evening. Starting with a 180, 140 against Arnie Quinn he took out 149 in a 4-1 win.

Aplin won by the same scoreline against Dave Butler and this time hit a 134 checkout on the way.

Meanwhile, 36 darts each would see Aplin and McDermott play a nine-dart highest score shot to decide the 1001 shoot, which Aplin took for a second successive week.

After defeat to Aplin, Butler produced a great performance against Mark Samways. Level at 2-2, Butler hit a 14-dart leg against the throw to go 3-2 up before Samways broke straight back in the final leg to claim the draw.

Samways started the evening playing Masters, hitting a great 157 in the first leg and then taking the second.

But Masters, as he did last week, came from two down to win 4-2, hitting a 180 in the process.

Honnor and Paul Dormer shared the points in their 3-3 draw, with Dormer hitting another high checkout of 112 at 3-2 down while Honnor sat on double 10.

Matty Paice could not recreate the top form that he showed in his first match against Mark Samways earlier in the season, losing 4-0 and also losing his second game 4-0 to Simon Churchill.

Scott Gannon also ended up with a disappointing night.

Before losing to Burton he lost a scrappy match against best friend Arnie Quinn 4-2.

Quinn threw big scores when needing it while Gannon beat himself up when throwing the odd wayward dart.

Thanks to Richard Pask who has offered to chalk on Monday nights.
