MOONFLEET 2000 Indoor Bowls Club was the venue for another Drawn Triples Knockout competition.

Thirty-six men and lady bowlers signed up to take part in this fun day and were divided into four groups each consisting of three drawn teams.

There was a buzz of enjoyment and camaraderie as the early rounds saw teams in each group playing against each other in one-hour games over six ends.

By 3pm, the four top-scoring teams had been identified by a combination of points scored and shot difference and they went forward into two play-offs, one for first and second place, the other for third and fourth place.

With many of those eliminated watching and cheering, the two games proved close contests, but there could only be one outright winner and that award went to Philip Emeny, Rob Gwilliam and skip Colin Chatburn who beat Dave Blackmore, Derek Jackson and skip Steve Wilson by just two shots.

Gill Lock, Vic Mantle and skip Irene Abery finished third and Monique Gandy, Chris Lamb and skip Tony Whittaker came in fourth.

All finalists were presented with generous cash prizes and a special ‘player of the day’ was awarded to Emeny who received a bottle of Champagne.

A club spokesman said: "We look forward to a similar challenge competition in the Spring."

The competition was sponsored by Andy Parsons, senior wealth management consultant from ‘Eight’ Wealth Management, who presented the prizes.
