TWO excellent performances from Chris Burton helped him rise up the Weymouth ADC League table and improve his chances for a mid-table finish.

Burton won both of his matches on the night as he dropped just two legs all evening and hit six perfect darts in leg three of his 4-0 win over Wayne Jordan.

However, Burton wired the seventh which would have set him up for a nine-darter.

Burton carried on his good form winning 4-2 against an unlucky Matty Paice in their final match of the evening.

Another top performer on the night was Arnie Quinn, in his attempts to solidify a play-off place, Quinn had three games to manage and came through all three with maximum points as he won his first and last games of the night 4-0 against Adam Mckay and Dave Butler either side of an impressive 4-2 win over previous leader Andrew McDermott, who suffered his second defeat in two games.

After last week’s loss, McDermott was fortunate to pick up a 4-2 win in his last game of the evening against McKay in a match which could have gone either way and saw both players miss a hatful of doubles.

McDermott’s win helped him hold on to second ahead of third-placed Andy Masters but only by a point now.

Masters picked up another two wins, doing just enough against Matty Paice who went agonisingly close to hitting a 136 shot-out and claiming a draw.

However, Paice bust his score by hitting double 11 instead of double eight and Masters stepped in to claim a 4-2 win.

Masters performed and scored better in his second match as he won what on paper was a tricky tie against Paul Dormer 4-1.

Simon Churchill picked up maximum points without dropping a single leg in his 4-0 wins over Trevor Honnor and Paul Paice.

Churchill hit big scores at the right time and did not miss many doubles as he rarely gave any of his opponents a chance to take any legs.

This is the total opposite to Honnor’s first game of the evening where you could say Nigeria Davis gave him the honour of maximum points by miss counting when going for a double thinking he would bust his score when still needing six and removing his darts with one still in hand.

Honnor took advantage and checked out tops to move 3-1 ahead and never looked back from then on in.

Davis made amends in his final match of the night as he picked up a great draw against Paul Dormer who also started the night with a 3-3 draw with Simon Sharpe.

Sharpe had led 2-1 before he went 3-2 down but, after he hit a 180, he snatched the final leg and got the draw.

Sharpe has been struggling to get over the winning line of late as he had another 3-3 draw with Scott Gannon.

Paul Paice hit a 16 and 18-dart leg in his 4-0 win over Butler as both players hit big scores but Paice’s finishing saw him pick up the two points.

Mark Samways did just about enough in both his matches as he won 4-1 against Mckay in his first match and then 4-2 against Jordan in his second.

Samways hit an 18-dart leg that was finished off with a 107 shot-out before missing the double for a 134.

Mckay’s only leg came after he missed 16 darts at double eight before finally hitting it at the 17th attempt.

Mel Burton had to dig in deep in his first match of the night being 2-1 down to Scott Gannon. Burton’s composure saw him take the next three legs and a 4-2 win.

Fourth-placed Burton took on new leader Danny Aplin in his final match, leading 2-0 and in full control, Aplin stole the third leg before hitting 94 while Burton was on double eight and draw the game level.

Aplin then started with a 180 and finished with a 15-dart leg before taking out 126 and 16-dart leg in the final leg of the match for a 4-2 victory.

Aplin started the evening with a 4-0 win over Matty Paice. Paice scored superbly well against Aplin who missed a couple of chances at doubles to steal the leg.

A 114 shot-out saw Aplin take the win and extend his lead at the top by two points.

Aplin took the 1,001 shoot out for the fourth week on the trot, achieving it in 36 darts.

180s: Sharpe, Burton x2, McDermott, Masters, Aplin, Quinn.

100+ out shots: Aplin 126 and 114, Samways 107.
