BRIDPORT Runners' Ben Renshaw blew the field away to win the Weymouth Bay 10k in a new course record time.

Renshaw's dominance saw him take the tape in 33 minutes, 55.8 seconds to win by three minutes, 31.8 seconds from Poole Athletic Club's Chris Alborough in second place.

Bustinskin athlete George Bareham claimed third, a further minute and 7.2 seconds down on Alborough.

Amy Bond, also of Poole Athletics Club, was the fastest female runner, storming round the circuit to set a new female course record of 40:46.7, finishing in fifth place overall.

In the team event, Royal Manor Portland Running Club took the spoils, with Bridport in second.

Just under 300 runners participated in the event, which encountered windy conditions throughout the race.

Race director Mark Caswell thanked Weymouth & Portland Borough Council, The Riviera Hotel and 3d Health & Fitness for their support of the event.
