THE Weymouth ADC Darts Singles League has summer season has begun with a new set up and new faces, with seven new players added to the previous twenty and a new look to the Weymouth Angling Club that hosts the league.

Organiser and player Paul Paice explained the reasoning behind the format change in the summer: "One of the main things we do not want to do in the ADC league is become stale and repeat the same format in the summer as we do in the winter.

"We have nine teams of three players per side and everyone will play everyone twice apart from their own team mates. its still mainly a singles league and the highest prize will go to top of the table. Every individual win is a point to your team as well. There will be an extra prize for top of the teams table as well."

New additions to the league are Sam Ward, Mark Long, Anthony Thorn, Dave Pugh, Stew Masters, Matty Betts and Terry Tucker.

Board one saw Mels Mower Men defeat WAM 6-3 with Trevor Honnor winning all three matches and Mel Gregg, who took over half a season to grab her first win in the winter won her second game of the night with a 3-2 over Wayne Jordan.

Andy Masters got revenge on Danny Aplin, after his loss in the final of the winter season, with a 3-0 win in their match.

Mel Burton started on board two winning all three of his matches without dropping a leg and defeating semi-finalist Andrew McDermott 3-0 helping to secure a 5-4 team win for S Club 3 over F.I.I.K.

Debutant Long made a perfect start to his ADC campaign with impressive wins over Arnie Quinn, Chris Stones and coming from two down to beat Simon Sharpe 3-2.

They would be the only points The Natives would pick up as Simon Churchill and Nigel Davies lost all three of their matches, with the end result being 6-3 to The Dogs.

Three new players to ADC teamed up on board four and claimed a 6-3 victory for the first Time Luckies over the Silver Foxes.

County player Sam Ward showed why he is one of the early favourites for the summer title by winning all three matches and only dropping two legs all night in his 3-2 win over P. Paice. Team mate Thorn hit the highest out shot of the night with a 152 out in one of his two wins, while the returning Betts claimed a victory over Tucker.
