BAY FENCING & LANDSCAPING 21

GW ELECTRICAL 30

GW ELECTRICAL bagged their first victory of the South & West Dorset League season after beating Bay Fencing.

The match started slowly, with constant turnovers from both sides halting the flow of the game.

A solid defence from GW’s Jemma Davies (WD) and Rachel Senior (C) made it hard for Bay to get the ball to their shooters. Bay persevered, however, managing to end the quarter one goal ahead.

Bay’s shooting duo, Charlotte Reid (GS) and Chantelle Halloran (GA), continued to give their all in the circle to boost their team’s lead.

GW upped their game, however, to score some crucial goals.

Third-quarter position changes for GW gave them renewed energy to push forward and take a small lead.

Bay made some tactical changes of their own to even the playing field and lower the goal difference.

However, GW kept great energy and determination to come out on top at the end of this thrilling match.

Division Two

OJOS B 31

CAFÉ OASIS 21

OJOS B made a strong start with great control of the ball around the court.

Café Oasis slowly found their rhythm but OJOs B managed to hold on to a one-goal lead going into the second quarter.

Both teams upped their game with excellent passing making turnovers scarce.

Oasis’ GD, Amber Hider, made some impressive interceptions but OJOs B’s GD, Donna Butcher, was just as good, preventing Oasis from lowering the scoreline.

Oasis fought hard to overcome OJOs B’s firm defence, with a strong contest in the mid-court between Cs, Jane Snarey (Oasis) and Mandy Langton (OJOs B).

OJOs B slowed their pace, giving Oasis a small advantage, however, this was not enough to combat OJOs B’s consistently strong play throughout the match, and OJOs B were able to claim the victory.

Division One

OTC 60

ALLWAYS REMOVALS 23

OTC came out fighting to take an early lead and never looked back.

Allways stepped up with some excellent interceptions, however, OTC ensured they were unable to take advantage of this, allowing OTC to end the quarter with a substantial lead.

Allways gave their all but OTC continued to rack up the points thanks to some superb shooting from Sally Miller (GS) and Bryony White (GA).

Allways’ GK Jackie Savage and GD Gilly Woodsford were quick to take advantage of missed shots, however, OTC’s attackers soon returned the ball to the circle where their shooters were able to score, ensuring OTC walked away victorious.

Division One

TEAM WAIKIKI 46

COASTAL CHEESES 20

TEAM Waikiki collected their second win of the campaign to lead the early table.

The table-toppers were quick to get the ball to their shooters, thanks to great accuracy and control from Jo Baldwin (C) and Lisa White (WA), as well as putting strong defensive pressure on Coastal Cheeses’ attackers.

Coastal fought back with fantastic attacking skill to score a few good goals, however, they were unable to catch up to Waikiki by the end of the quarter.

A tactical change for Coastal proved advantageous as Wendy Doyle came on at C, dominating the mid-court.

Waikiki built up their strength and unleashed an outstanding attack at the end of the second quarter to increase their lead.

Tactical changes during half-time reinforced Waikiki’s defensive pressure and caused uncertainty in Coastal’s attack.

Waikiki dominated the final quarter, taking every opportunity to convert goals.

Coastal kept up their enthusiasm and WA Sian Whitlock continued to fight for every ball, but ultimately Waikiki proved their skill and earned the victory.
