UNSTOPPABLE William Fox-Pitt underlined his London 2012 medal credentials with a dream double at the Equi-Trek Bramham International Horse Trials yesterday.
The Sturminster Newton eventing world number one was in exceptional form to ensure he had the final say ahead of the upcoming Olym-pic team selection decision.
Widely expected to lead Great Britain’s bid for gold at the Games, Fox-Pitt again demonstrated he was in fine fettle as he collected the top prizes in both the CCI and CIC three-star competitions at Bramham Park.
The 43-year-old triumphed aboard Chilli Morning in the CCI and also guided Neuf des Coeurs to glory in the CIC category.
Speaking on Saturday, before sealing his latest triumphs, Fox-Pitt insisted he was taking nothing for granted in terms of Olympic selection.
In an interview with the Press Association, he said: “Places on the British team are being hard-fought.
“It has been a very difficult season for new or less-experienced combinations to prove themselves because the bad weather has meant they’ve had nowhere to go. I think the selectors have got a very difficult job.
“There are five places there to be fought for. There are no foregone conclusions here.”
