NICK Voss will be out to emulate his younger brother Andrew in the Dorset Indoor BA singles final at Bourne-mouth on Sunday.
Last season Andrew lifted the trophy 21-13 against Dolphin's Ben Paulley - and Paulley is again the man to beat if 19-year-old Dorchester player Nick is to keep the trophy in the Voss household.
Twelve months ago Dorchester won every championship - the first time a single club have achieved the clean sweep - but it is very different this time as Nick Voss is the only finalist from the county town.
Both Nick Voss and Paulley overcame Bournemouth opposition in the semi-finals. Voss, who carried off the under-25 crown last season, accounted for Kevin Downs and Paulley ended the ambitions of John O'Donnell 21-12.
Paulley stood at 12-12 before rattling off four ends for victory.
Downs and O'Donnell, however, can still capture a trophy double as they are through to the finals of the pairs as well as the fours in the Chris Daniels rink.
In the fours Bournemouth trailed 6-2 and were still 17-14 adrift until scoring seven shots without reply over the last four ends to deflate Robbie Ward, George Spracklen, Alan Newton and Dave Joslin from Dorchester 21-17.
Martin Puckett's hopes of collecting a quartet of trophies were dashed when his Moonfleet 2000 rink of Chris Cook, Robert Stanley and Raven Nurse were beaten 20-13 by Chris Lawrence, Chris Weekes, Phil Lawrence and Paulley.
After taking a 5-0 lead inside three ends Dolphin were always in control. Although Moonfleet trimmed the deficit to 9-6 Paulley launched a sequence of five winning ends to open up a 17-6 gap at 13 ends and though Puckett had a 7-0 burst himself over the following four ends Dolphin finished with a double and a single.
Puckett, however, is through to the pairs' showdown with Mike Gale and also features in the under-25 and under-18 finals.
The teenager gave a fine performance in the under-25 semi-final to sink reigning champion Nick Voss 21-17 at Dorchester. Both players took the lead but at 17-17 Puckett produced a one, two, one run to seize victory and book a date with Paulley.
In the junior event Puckett defeated Spracklen 20-10 and now faces Chris Lawrence (Dolphin) who was given a walk-over by Ward.
Sunday's timetable at Bournemouth sees the singles and pairs at 10am with the triples (Mike Beales of Bournemouth against Paulley) and the under-18s at 2pm.
The under-25 final is on Tuesday and the fours is next Wednesday, both matches at Bournemouth (6.30).
* Mike Gale and Pete Read - Area 19 winners - will play Mark and David Todd from Beccles, Suffolk, in the first round (last 32) of the English Indoor BA pairs championship at Nottingham on Tuesday, April 8 (6.30pm).
