ON TRACK: Weymouth's Mark Vaughan will be racing Mallory tomorrow
WEYMOUTH'S Mark Vaughan is gearing up for this year's MSA British SuperKart Championship - the Formula One of the karting world.
This year's championship will
see races at Mallory Park, Oulton Park, Bishopscourt in Northern Ireland, Cadwell Park (the British SuperKart GP), Donington Park, and finally Castle Combe in Wiltshire.
And Vaughan, a member of the Viper Racing team, is hoping for some last minute tweaking ahead of tomorrow's opening round at Mallory in Leicestershire.
He said: "I had a warm up race at Mallory Park where I qualified eighth after lapping the circuit in 52.10 seconds, just two seconds over the lap record.
"I made a good start in the race itself, picking up a few places, but a lot of under-steer affected me throughout and I finished tenth, which was not the result I had hoped for but hopefully the team can sort out the handling in time.
"For this year's championship I
am using a new chassis from
world champions Anderson as well as a Honda engine from Viper Racing. My sponsors are Pro Clean, Demon Tweeks and Vaughans Bistro in Weymouth, who I am very grateful to."
