WEYMOUTH travel to high-flying Trowbridge tomorrow (3pm) knowing that anything other than defeat will be a major bonus.

Following last season’s promotion from Dorset & Wilts One South, head coach Paul Harding believes that results at Monmouth Avenue will ultimately determine whether the seaside outfit retain their place in Southern Counties South.

Therefore, any points on the road are seen as an unexpected gain.

Harding said: “Trowbridge are a good side and at home they will no doubt be at full-strength.

“We have lost a couple of players from last week, which is disappointing, but some weeks we won’t have the personnel we want and we will just have to take it on the chin.

“If you lose the game so be it, it’s about what you do when you have a full side out that is key.

“Home form will also be very important and if you can pick up a few points away from home that’s all well and good.”

Both sides enter the clash in Wiltshire on the back of victories with Weymouth having recorded a 76-0 hammering of Supermarine and Trowbridge earning a 17-0 triumph at Wootton Bassett.

In the same division, Dorchester visit Frome (3pm) with the aim of recording back-to-back wins.

The county town outfit halted the slide of three straight defeats in all competitions with a 17-12 success at Walcot last weekend.

Tomorrow’s hosts meanwhile have yet to be beaten on their own turf but are still without a win on their travels.

A top-of-the-table tussle takes place in Dorset & Wilts One South tomorrow as Ivel Barbarians welcome Bridport (3pm).

Last Saturday’s 32-17 win over Sherborne Seconds saw the Blues replace Ivel at the summit and both teams go head-to-head in Yeovil tomorrow afternoon (3pm).

Bridport skipper Ricky Stubbs said: “It’s a big game. We’ve both won four out of four and we’ve both played similar sides, so it’s going to be a good game to watch.”

Puddletown are without a league fixture this Saturday, but a veterans side will travel to Monmouth Avenue to contest a friendly with their Weymouth counterparts (2.30pm).

Finally, Swanage & Wareham take on Witney in South West One East (3pm), hoping to notch their first win on the road.
