SWANAGE & WAREHAM 12 SEVENOAKS 21
THE Swans will go into their first fixture of the new Southern Counties South season today on the back of a defeat following a 21-12 friendly loss at home to Sevenoaks.
Kent outfit Sevenoaks were first on the attack, winning a couple of penalties early on, but the Swans easily dealt with the danger.
However, 10 minutes in another penalty to the visitors saw the ball passed along the back-line to left winger Atino Vaihu who scored in the corner. Fly-half Sam Bright added the conversion.
Swans won a scrum in the visitors’ 22 from the restart and pushed the Sevenoaks pack backwards for number-eight Joe Desmond to crash over, Phil Graves added the extras.
The play was pretty even for much of the rest of the half, but on 30 minutes a drive by the visitors split the hosts’ defence and once again Vaihu scored.
Bright converted and at half-time Sevenoaks led 14-7.
In the second half the heavier Sevenoaks pack seemed to take control and from a drive number-eight Ollie Robinson powered over for another converted try.
Swans went on the attack again and after several phases of play replacement full-back Paul Dunsford touched down.
All the pressure in the final stages came from the home side but they could not convert that control into points.
