MONMOUTH Avenue hosts the first Ridgeway derby of the new season tomorrow, and Weymouth & Portland skipper Kevin Leath-am is expecting a typically feisty encounter when his side take on Dorchester Seconds (3pm).

Other than a slight injury concern over Steve Nation-Grainger (groin), Leatham has the luxury of a fully-fit squad to choose from for the Dorset & Wilts Two South encounter.

Both sides go into the match on the back of victories in their opening games of the campaign last Saturday – Leatham’s men saw off Puddletown and Dorch-ester beat Swanage & Wareham Seconds.

“You always look forward to playing local derbies, especially against Dorchester,” said Leath-am. “It’s always a step up when you play when you play them and we are looking forward to it.

“I’ve always enjoyed the intensity of the games and this one should be a tough test.

“Steve Nation-Grainger will have a fitness test on his groin but other than that we have a full squad to pick from.

“There are a couple of players who haven’t played in a derby before but a lot of the lads have four or five seasons behind them.”

Second row Leatham has been impressed with the club’s new recruits, particularly outside-half Bryn Llewellyn, who scored 13 points on his debut at Puddletown.

“Bryn controlled the game well,” added Leatham. “He has looked good in training as well, and he is only 19.”

Elsewhere in Two South, Bridport entertain North Dorset Thirds and Puddletown go to Ellingham & Ringwood Sec- onds.

After a hammering by Swanage & Wareham last time out, Dorchester host Walcot in Southern Counties South, while the Swans visit Frome.

There is a trip to South Wilts for Weymouth & Portland Seconds in Dorset & Wilts Three South, and Dorchester Thirds face Bridport Seconds in Dorset & Wilts Four.
