WEYMOUTH & Portland RFC have unveiled a plaque to mark the club’s change of name.

The plaque will take pride of place in the clubhouse at Monmouth Avenue, and will provide an historical reminder of this important date for the club – Weymouth (1872 to 2014)-Weymouth & Portland RFC (2014 onwards).

The unveiling of the plaque was performed by honourable alderman Jess Nagel, who was assisted by club chairman Ian McMillan.

The former Weymouth & Portland mayor presented some of the mini and youth players with some training balls, which she has sponsored.

The event was also attended by Dorset & Wilts president John Constable, past president John Palmer and RFU past president Willie Wildash.

If anybody is interested in sponsoring the club, they can telephone McMillan on 07799895014.

If you are interested in joining the club’s mini and youth section, call Mike Murphy for more details on 07871633985.
