ELLINGHAM & RINGWOOD II 0 WEYMOUTH & PORTLAND 43

SEVEN was certainly Weymouth & Portland’s lucky number at Ellingham & Ringwood.

The Monmouth Avenue outfit cruised to a seventh win of the season in Dorset & Wilts Two South, with their seven tries being scored by seven different players.

And skipper Kevin Leatham’s side, fifth in the standings, registered 40 points or more in a match for the second weekend running.

George Carter got the ball rolling before Joe Gibson, Ryan Keable-Kinsella, Bryn Llewellyn, Jake Guildford, Duncan Bezzant and James Chittick added further tries for the visitors.

Llewellyn also landed four conversions to take his own tally to 13 points for the afternoon.

“They gave us a good battle and after the first five minutes it looked like we were going to have a tougher afternoon than it proved to be,” said Leatham.

“All our tries we really good team tries and we looked a threat from all parts of the pitch.

“Everyone worked hard and had a part to play in the match, and the set-pieces went really well.

“Man of the match Jonathan Mason was superb in the line-out and Joe Gibson was another of our standout players.”

He went on to add: “We increased the pressure throughout the game, which was pleasing.

“We have been starting slowly in games and then picking up towards the end, but we worked hard to maintain our form throughout the 80 minutes. Everyone really clicked on Saturday.”

Weymouth & Portland host Bournemouth Thirds, who enjoyed an excellent 13-5 win over Swanage & Wareham Seconds, this Saturday.
