NORTH DORSET III 24 BRIDPORT 15

NORTH Dorset gained revenge for a 76-13 thrashing by the Blues back in September with victory over the same opponents last Saturday.

Bridport travelled north expecting a positive end to the year, however, it was not to be as the hosts fielded a much-improved side.

The visitors’ set-piece was as reliable as ever, but handling errors in open play negated any advantage gained.

With a strong wind at their backs, Bridport dominated the first 30 minutes, scoring a try through Nathan Herbert. The conversion was missed.

Right at the end of the first half, North Dorset broke through Brid-port’s midfield and scored under the posts, and they led 7-5 when the extras were added.

North Dorset extended their lead in the second half with strong forward play resulting in two unconverted tries.

Bridport fought back with an unconverted try from Darragh McCloughlin, but North Dorset responded with another well-worked move which ended under the posts.

The Blues had the last word with a try from Andrew Livingston, who had an influential game on his return to the side, but it was too little, too late.

Bridport’s next game is not until Saturday, January 10 when they host Wimborne Thirds in Dorset & Wilts Two South.

A win over bottom side Wimborne will hopefully provide a springboard for a successful second half of the season as far as Bridport are concerned.
